I have been asked to find a KVM solution that will satisfy the following requirements:

    1. We will have 5 – 8 Dell servers rack mounted in a 19" rack. Each server only has one VGA output.

    2. For local access we'd like a slide out 3 monitor display KVM that can switch between each server and extend the server's desktop across all three monitors.

    3. Must be accessible over a network as well - KVM over IP type solution.

    Is this possible?

    Hello Jonathan,

Thank you for reaching out on our HelpCenter.

    No. And here's why:

In order to create an extended-desktop video setup with three screens, each one of your servers must have 3x video outputs. You cannot set up an extended-desktop video setup with multiple screens on your console when your video source (your server) only has one video output. Please understand that a KVM switch does not create anything (additional video signals in this case) - it simply routs signals that come in to a single console. If only one video signal is coming in from each server - only one video signal will go out from the KVM switch to only one monitor.

    Hope this helps!
