Extender VGA and IR extension

I'm extending VGA video from a laptop to a projector about 150 feet away over existing CAT-5.

The projector can receive infrared (IR) commands from a remote control, to be sent back to the laptop.

We had a failure - not sure whether it's the transmitter or the receiver that had failed.

I'm looking at XT Pro Transmitter (Model No. XTP-TXS) and wondering:
    1) Is this one box, or a set?
    2) Will this unit support IR?

XTP-TXS is a transmitter only (not a set), and requires a compatible receiver.

Since the transmitter and the receiver of such an extension system must be compatible, and since you're not sure which end has failed, you will probably be better off getting a new extension system (transmitter/receiver pair).

One such system that also supports IR extension is XT Pro.

This wall-plate solution can also accomplish the task.
