    Hi,

    Please help...

I want to have an extended desktop for both computers but only computer 2 will use the third monitor.

    Here is my setup:
Computer 1 - Dell - VGA and DisplayPort
    Computer 2 - Asus - Mini-DisplayPort and HDMI
Two monitors: HP 24" with 1-HDMI input, 1-VGA input, and 1-DisplayPort input
I haven't purchased the third monitor yet.

    Thank you!

    Hello Keith,

Thank you for reaching out on our HelpCenter.

You should probably use a system supporting DisplayPort inputs (and use an adapter for your Asus).

Have a look at either DPN-4Quad or D2H-4P-Quad (both offering you some room for growth).

When you switch to computer #1, the 3rd monitor will simply go blank.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you for the quick reply. My only question is - shouldn't there be two/three outputs for each monitor I want to use?

Of course. Each computer must have multiple video ports which you will then connect to the multiple video connectors (per port) on the KVM switch.
Note: You can create additional video ports on anyone of your computers (without replacing your video card) by using USB video adapters.
The KVM switch has 4 video ports to connect to up to four screens for your extended desktop.

    Hope this helps!
