Switch KVM Switch: Using with MS Surface 7+

I am using a CKL 2x2 Matrix DisplayPort KVM Switch Dual Monitor USB 3.0 4K 60Hz, PC Monitor Keyboard Mouse Peripherals Sharing Box switch with a ThinkStation desktop and a Microsoft Surface 7+.

The switch works fine with the desktop and works for the Surface when it is selected. But, when I switch to the desktop, the Surface still thinks it is connected to the monitors, keyboard, and mouse. So, I can't even try to change the display settings bc nothing will open on the Surface screen... it opens on the phantom monitor screen.

If I unplug the docking station (where the KVM switch is connected) it returns to normal. And, if I click the KVM switch back to the Surface it works fine.

Does anyone know how to stop the Surface docking station from telling the Surface it is still connected to all the devices when it is not the selected computer on the switch?
