Switch ATEN US3342 + USB hub with HDMI doesn't work

I just purchased the ATEN US3342 switch. As it doesn't have any HDMI ports, I attached a USB hub to the USB-C port (port 4 on the front). The USB hub has two HDMI ports that I was going to use for my two external displays, that I wanted to share between two laptops. However, the displays don't work. I tried it with two different USB hubs and the problem persists. Anything else that goes through the hubs (USB, audio, enthernet, etc.) works. I just can't get the laptop->switch->hub->hdmi connections to work. Any ideas?

    Hello Marek,

Thank you for reaching out on our HelpCenter.

As shown on the product's illustration, the USB-C port on US3342 is designed for sharing data-only USB peripherals. It does not support HDMI, Ethernet, or anything extra.

    Hope this helps!

Hi, thank you for the reply. It does not entirely make sense for the following reasons:
    1. When I plug in a HDMI to USB converter to the US3342 switch, that works.
    2. When I use any one of my USB hubs, which have various HDMI and USB ports, and connect that to the US3342 switch, it does not work. Each USB hub is also a HDMI to USB-C converter.
    3. If I connect a HDMI to USB converter to a USB hub (USB-A port) and then the hub to the switch (USB-C), it works again!
It's just weird. The debug process would suggest my HDMI ports on my hubs are faulty. But on all my hubs? Not very probable.
    Thanks.
