Switch Controlling 16 computers with 4 monitors

I'm looking for a KVM switch that will allow me to control 16 computers through 4 independent and simultaneous consoles, each consisting of 1 keyboard, 1 mouse (USB) and 1 monitor (VGA).

In one scenario, the consoles are no more than 40 feet away from the computers.

In another scenario, the computers are in a remote location, requiring access over the Internet.

[IMG] You will need a 4-user KVM switch.

For the setup where the computers are in a remote location - you will need a 4-user KVM over IP switch, to access your computers over the Internet (or LAN network). In this case, each user will have to be using a computer (not a mere console) which will also be connected to the network.

Some models to look at include:

Dominion KX III 416 (16 ports) or Dominion KX III 432 (32 ports)

    AdderView CATxIP 5000, 16-Ports

For the local setup, you may deploy a similar KVM over IP solution. But, if you want to use user consoles instead of computers, you could look at multi-user KVM switches that are not IP-based. These KVM switches typically require a "User Station" for each user (which is extended away from the switch over CATx) to which a console (not a computer) gets connected to. Being that these are not KVM over IP, the video quality and mouse responsiveness are typically better.

Some models to look at may include:

    AdderView CATx 4000, 16-Ports or AdderView CATx 4000, 24-Ports.

    Paragon II 4-User, 42-Ports.

    Thank you.

Is there a switch which would give 4 Local user access in addition to 4 IP? Not 8 total but the ability to have 4 total users log on locally or IP.

    No.

The KVM over IP switches we recommended do, however, offer the ability to connect one local console which, in essence, becomes the 5th user (on top of the other 4 remote users over IP).

    Thanks.

How about an option where it's just 4 local users? (if IP access is not required or needed)?

Modern non-IP multi-user KVM switches like the ones we recommended: AdderView CATx 4000 and Paragon II support their 4 users via User Stations that get connected to the switch using CATx. You can setup these user stations in proximity to the switch, or extended up to a few hundred feet away from the switch.
AdderView CATx 4000 also supports one local console that gets connected directly to the switch.

An older SmartView XPro, 4-Users, 16-Ports supports 4 local users connected directly to the switch, but this switch supports PS/2 keyboard/mouse instead of USB.
