IP KVM over IP switch supporting 4K

We have a kiosk with twp PCs:
    1) Headless (no video output)
    2) A PC with 4K @ 60Hz HDMI video which is generating the video for the kiosk's end user

We want to be able to access and control these two computers remotely over the Internet, with the ability within one remote session to switch between the computers.

Computer #2 must continue feeding the video to its monitor even as it is accessed and control remotely.

We also need to have a USB hard-drive connected to the KVM switch so that the files on it can be accessed by anyone of the two computers during a remote session.

Can you offer a solution to this application?

    Hello Tristan,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Your application calls for a KVM over IP solution. Some challenges include:
    - KVM over IP switches don't yet natively support 4K video. Some models will allow a remote user to access 4K computers connected to the switch (albeit generating scroll-bars on the remote screen) while other models won't support this at all.
    - The smallest KVM over IP switch typically supports up to 8 computers, while you need only two.
    - KVM over IP switches typically do not support the connection of a local external USB drive that can be accessed by anyone of the connected computers during a remote session.

These challenges lead us to take a different approach for your application and set it up as follows:
    1) Connect the computer that is driving the kiosk's video to a 2-port video splitter. This will allow the kiosk's screen to constantly get the video feed, while the same feed could also be viewed via the KVM switch when the user switches over to this computer.
    2) Deploy a (standard) CS1822 2-port KVM switch that supports 4K and also supports sharing an external USB drive between the two connected computers. The video connection will be to the 2nd port of the video splitter, while the USB connections will be to the USB ports of each of the two computers. Connect a USB hard drive to one of CS1822's USB peripheral-sharing ports.
    3) Finally, deploy Dominion KX IV-101 KVM over IP gateway (which supports 4K video) to the console-ports of CS1822. This will allow a remote user to access CS1822 over the Internet, using keyboard hot-keys to switch between computers and take advantage of its built0in USB peripheral-sharing capability.

    Hope this helps!
