Docking Stations Audio support for USB-C Docking station

This is a follow-up question to my post about choosing a KVM that has support for de-embedding the audio coming from the DisplayPort (https://hc.kvmgalore.com/threads/displayport-kvms-supporting-audio-through-displayport.1822/).

If I was to purchase the IOGear GCS1932 KVM to switch between a Dell Precision 5530 laptop and a Macbook Pro laptop:
[1] Which docking stations would be the most compatible to be used for either laptop?
[2] Which docking stations pass the audio (de-embed) through the DisplayPort of the docking station into the KVM's DisplayPort?

I was looking at the IOGear GUD3C01 and ATEN UH3230 docking stations (which look to be identical) and I am assuming that the only way to pass audio to the KVM is through the 3.5mm jack, but many not?

I already have a Dell D6000 docking station for the Dell Precision 5530 laptop, but if you sell a docking station that DOES pass through the audio through the DisplayPort, I would definitely consider purchasing 2 identical docking stations.

    THANKS!

    Hello Scott,

Thank you for reaching out again on our HelpCenter.

Determine compatibility based on the docking port (how does the docking station connect to the laptop). If both your laptops have USB Type-C connectors then you should choose a docking station with a USB Type-C docking port.

None. The docking station gets connected to the laptop's USB port from which it retrieves both audio and video. The docking station does not connect to the laptop's video port.

Correct. The docking station gets the computer's audio via its USB port and outputs the audio via a 3.5mm audio jack. Use this docking station's audio jack as your audio source connected to each port on your KVM switch using a 3.5mm audio cable.

We're not familiar with Dell D6000 docking station, but if it gets connected to your laptop via USB then we could assume is passes the audio via a 3.5mm audio jack, not through DisplayPort.

    Hope this helps!
