Multi-screen Using KVM switch for 2 radiology PACS

    Hey,

    I'm currently running a 2-computer 4-monitor system.
EZIO FlexScan 2460 side monitor x2
EZIO RadiForce MX315W PACS monitor which uses 2 DP ports and splits the monitor to 2 Tiles.

I recently got the SmartAvi SM-EDPN-4Q KVM switch.

My side monitors turn on fine but the RadiForce monitor says no signal.

I checked and double checked my wiring and it’s all wired appropriately.

Anyone have any ideas how to get this working?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Radpeter,

I spoke with our engineers and here is what they recommend:

A few things to check that will help narrow down the issue:

    1. Could you take a screenshot of Windows Advanced Display Settings while connected through the SM-EDPN-4Q? We'd like to see what Windows is detecting (or not detecting) for the MX315W and what resolution is being reported.
    2. The MX315W supports up to 4096×2160, while the SM-EDPN-4Q is limited to 3840×2160. Depending on how the display is configured, Windows may be attempting to output a resolution that exceeds the KVM's capabilities. Try manually setting the resolution to 3840×2160 and see if the display comes online.
    3. Is the MX315W configured as a tiled display requiring two independent DisplayPort inputs? If so, are both DisplayPort inputs routed through the SM-EDPN-4Q for every computer connection?
Once we can see what Windows is reporting in Advanced Display Settings and confirm how the monitor is configured, we should have a much better idea of whether this is a resolution, EDID, or tiled-display configuration issue.

    Thanks!

Hey thanks for replying - I will attach all the screenshots for you and here are the answers to the questions you had.

The Radiforce MX315w is using 2 DP ports connected to the KVM switch and is set up as a tiled display with resolution set at 2048 x 2160 for each tile. Both display ports are connected to the KVM from each computer desktop.

I did find a temporary workaround that has been working for me in the interim. I plugged one of the side monitors into output port A then let it load up. i unplugged it and moved it to output port B and that monitor fired up. Finally i plugged the Radiforce MX315W DP wires into output port A and B and it fired right up but was detected by windows as the FlexScan monitors. I then went into my Nvidia settings and manually changed the resolution to 2048 x 2160 and everything seemed to work great.

I finally think I found a solution let me know if you think this is appropriate or if there are any holes in my technique.

I set the Radiforce monitor to be single display from DP 1. I removed the DP2 wire from the KVM Output B and used hotkeys to learn the EDID, the monitor came right on. I then moved the DP1 wire from output port A to output port B and used the hotkey to learn the EDID and it came on. I then plugged DP1 to Output A and plugged DP2 into Output 2. Now it says no signal from DP1 or DP2. I then opened Nvidia settings and made a custom resolution of 2040 x 2160 for both monitors and they came right on. Attached images below of my working solution for now. I also locked the EDID's for all 4 monitors and ran a hotplug. I did have to create custom resolutions on the 2nd computer as well to get it to work when I switched over but once I had done all those things it seems to be stable.
