Multi-screen KVM - Not Scaling to full screen Barco Monitors - SM-EDPN-4Q

Discussion in 'KVM' started by Ken Nicoletti, Jul 22, 2025 at 7:01 PM.

  1. Hi,
A Dr has purchased a top of the line KVM switch to use with his Barco MDNG-5221 monitors. The KVM model number is - SM-EDPN-4Q. When the connecting the workstation from the tower to monitors directly its fine. But when using the KVM it seems the Barco monitors are not getting the full resolution. It is shrinking the resolution so that the top and bottom 3rd of each monitor are blacked out and we cant move the mouse there. It looks like the KVM should be compatible but its not using the full screen.

    Thanks
    Ken

    Hello Ken,

    Our tech support engineer answered:

The SM-EDPN-4Q does support resolutions up to 4K@60Hz, so based on the specs, your Barco MDNG-5221 monitors should be displaying properly through the KVM.

To help troubleshoot further, could you please check a few things on your end:
    • What resolution does the computer see in Display Settings when connected through the KVM?
    • In Advanced Display Settings, what monitor name is shown by the PC for each display coming from the KVM?
If the monitors were connected after the KVM had already powered up, it’s possible the KVM defaulted to a basic 1080p EDID. To fix that, there are two ways to force the KVM to relearn the correct resolution:
    1. Use the keyboard hotkey
From the keyboard connected to the "KM" USB port on the KVM, press:
Ctrl + Ctrl + E, then press Enter.
    2. Power cycle the KVM
Disconnect power from the KVM, make sure all monitors are powered on and connected, then reconnect power.
Please let us know the results after trying the above. This should help ensure the KVM learns and applies the correct resolution for your monitors.

    Hope this helps,
