Trying to see if there is another option for a less expensive 8x8 matrix 4K over CAT-5...

    I have 8 sources and 8 TV's.

I like the compass control.. that the key digital offers.

The KD-Pro8x8CC you like has two major advantages:
    1) It has a built-in Compass Control controller, which ultimately allows you to use Compass Control via your mobile device to control the switch. This is a fairly unique control system that other brands don't have.
    2) It has built-in signal extension over CATx to remote screens.

VM3909H is similar 8x8 systems to consider that does have built-in extension but no facilitation of mobile control.
A control system (similar to Compass Control) can be purchased separately, leaving it up to you to setup your own control system (rather than us programming it for you as in Compass Control).

Naturally, you could use an 8x8 matrix and attach external HDMI extenders to it, although - granted - it's a less elegant solution.

Here are some 8x8 systems to consider that do not have built-in extension:
    HDR-8x8-Plus
4K Ultra HD 8x8 Matrix for HDMI
    VM0808HA
    4K Ultra HD 8x8 Matrix w/ HDCP 2.2

    Hope this helps!
