We have 2x computers and 5x monitors.

    1) Computer #1 has 3x video heads (2x DisplayPort; 1x VGA) and it's using 3 monitors (set A) in extended desktop.
Two more monitors (set B) are on the other side of the wall.
We need to a switch that will allow computer #1 to switch between set A monitors to set B monitors.

    2) Computer #2 has 2x video heads (1x DisplayPort; 1x HDMI) and it's using 2 monitors (set B) in extended desktop.
We need a switch that will allow the 2 monitors (set B) to display the video from either computer #2 or computer #1.

Can you devise a solution to this setup?

    Hello Jonathan,

The following will accomplish your task (2x video splitters and 1x kvm switch):

1a) Connect a 2-screen video splitter* to video-output #1 of computer #1. Connect 1st video output from the splitter to 1st monitor in Set A.
1b) Connect another 2-screen video splitter to video-output #2 of computer #1. Connect 1st video output from the splitter to 2nd monitor in Set A.
    1c) Connect video-output #3 of computer #1 directly to 3rd monitor in Set A.
This will result in computer #1 displaying its three videos onto Set A monitors.

    2) Deploy a 2-port, dual-video KVM switch*.
2a) Connect 2nd video output from the 1st video splitter to one of the two video connections for computer #1 on the KVM switch.
2b) Connect 2nd video output from the 2nd video splitter to the second video connections for computer #1 on the KVM switch.
2c) Connect 1st video output from computer #2 to one of the two video connections for computer #2 on the KVM switch.
2d) Connect 2nd video output from computer #2 to the second video connections for computer #2 on the KVM switch.
2e) Connect the two monitors from Set B to the two video connections on the 'console' section of the KVM switch.

    3) Set the KVM switch to computer #2. This will result in computer #2 displaying its two videos onto Set B monitors.

    4) When you need computer #1 to display its video on Set B - switch the KVM switch to the other input, and you're all set.

    5) Both computers should have their keyboard/mouse connected directly to the computers.

    * Use KVMGFilter to narrow down your selection depending primarily on the type of video interface you'll be using.

    Hope this helps!
