    Hi,

I'm searching for USB KVM extender kit for a distance of minimum 400'.

I will be connect on old HP workstation running on UNIX and have 2 VGA output. The monitor are also VGA but can be replace with an other type of interface.

The preferred media type can be optic fiber but can also be copper.

The workstation are operator station on crucial automation system, so need to be really reliable.

I saw a few options on your site but since you're the specialist, I'm asking for help and advice.

    We're looking for 3 kits.

    Thanks

    Jean

    Hello Jean,

Thank you for reaching out on our HelpCenter.

If we understand you correctly, you are looking to extend USB keyboard/mouse and 2x VGA monitors 400 feet away from the computer.

A dual-video head USB/VGA KVM extender will do the job for you. These extenders use dedicated CATx cables to make a connection between a Local (Transmitter) located by the computer and a Remote (Receiver) located by the extended console:
    1) Dual-VGA/USB KVM Console Extender over Two CAT-5
    2) CE774
    3) CE775
    4) AdderLink X-USB PRO MS
    5) KLX-500-Duo
Alternatively, you could use Dual-DVI (and VGA) KVM over IP extenders that utilize a dedicated Ethernet switch to facilitate the extension.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks for the info :)

The model for extender over IP is really interesting.

I've noticed that the display is DVI but it's mentioned also VGA.

Can you tell me which adapter to use at each end to convert from VGA to DVI and from DVI to VGA ?

I've already tried some in the past and they were not always working.

    Thanks

    Jean

Yes, Dual-DVI (and VGA) KVM over IP extenders supports DVI-I (both digital and analog video).

Since DVI-I supports analog video, there is no need for video conversion, but rather a simple DVI to VGA adapter, or a DVI to VGA adapter-cable.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi,

I see in the specs of many KVM extender that the max resolution refresh rate is 60 hz.

My system is set at 1280 x 1024 and 75hz. Do it will be ok or I will loose quality or having lag? I'm looking for the ATEN CE775 but if you have a recommandation. Our system are UNIX workstation on OS 10.

    Thanks

    Jean

Forgot to mentionned that the lenght of cables should be around 100-120m for the ethernet cable. We will put CAT6.
    Thanks

    Hi Jean,

Thank you for reaching out on our HelpCenter.

CE775 supports the extension of two monitors. Do you need this dual-monitor capability? Or do you need a single-monitor extension capability?
    Please advise.
